Muteproof Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 8, 2026

Who we are

Muteproof is an Android app that adds burned-in captions to short talking videos. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it for the MVP.

Google account and sessions

You sign in with Google. We store your Muteproof user id, email and display name when Google provides them, plus encrypted session tokens on device so you stay signed in. Quotas and Pro entitlements are tied to your Muteproof account (Google identity), not to a device installation ID.

Videos and captions

When you choose a video, it is uploaded to our private processing servers so we can transcribe speech and render captions. Original uploads and exported MP4 files are deleted automatically within 24 hours. There is no public gallery, feed, search, or UGC.

Transcription provider

Audio extracted from your video may be sent to our speech-to-text provider (Deepgram) solely to generate timed captions. We do not sell your media or use it to train our own models.

Device and diagnostics

We may process technical signals needed to run the service (job status, error codes, approximate usage for Free/Pro limits). We do not build advertising profiles from your videos.

Purchases

If you buy a subscription through Google Play, purchase tokens are verified on our servers to unlock Pro features for your Google-linked account. Billing details stay with Google Play.

Retention and deletion

Media files and caption transcripts expire within 24 hours. Minimal non-content job metadata and raw Google Play notification payloads are removed after 30 days. Account and entitlement records are kept while your account exists. You can delete your Muteproof account in Settings; that removes its profile, Google identity linkage, sessions, jobs, transcripts, and entitlements. Cancel Play subscriptions separately in Google Play.

Your choices

Sign out clears local session tokens. Delete account removes your Muteproof account data on our servers. To prevent repeated abuse of lifetime Free allowances, we retain only a non-reversible keyed hash of the Google identity and the remaining Free allowance after deletion; it contains no profile, email, original Google identifier, video, or transcript. Removing the app or deleting and recreating an account does not reset lifetime Free limits.

Account deletion

To delete your Muteproof account:

  1. Open the Muteproof app and sign in with Google if needed.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap Delete account and confirm.

If you cannot use the app, email support@fexar.fit from the Google account email linked to Muteproof and request account deletion. Media files expire within about 24 hours. Deleting the Muteproof account does not cancel a Google Play subscription — manage billing in Google Play. See also Account deletion.
